The ARM7 BRAINBOARD™ is a useful tool for prototyping and developing ARM7 based systems. The systems can be targeted to both embedded ARM7 ASICs and ARM7 micro-controller FPGA designs.

The board contains an ARM7 Test Chip, Xilinx Spartan FPGA and Flash and SRAM memories. The Board can be used stand-alone to prototype small systems or can prototype larger designs by plugging into the Avnet Virtex II Development Board. Additional Memory and Peripherals can be prototyped using Avnet’s Avalon AV-Bus compatible daughter cards.

The FPGA contains logic used to decode addresses and provide control signals for the on-board memories. It also contains 2 UARTs (16C550). The FPGA can contain other logic that can interface to the various off-board
connectors.
